hong kong 2008

here is the summary of hong kong 2008!

Day 1
flew from changi airport at 640am. took jetstar...flight was quite smooth. but nothing to do on the plane. cannot sleep also...would hav probably gone hysterical if the flight was longer than 3h 20min.

went to popeye's at hk airport. it's halal! then took the bus and made our way to our hostel.

met bee hong outside the MTR station and checked into the hotel. after much discussion, we decided to explore the city despite the rain.

first stop was the H&M outlet at mong kok!

obviously da jie couldn't understand what was the excitement about. haha!

after that we headed to ladies street. on the way, ate some yummy mango desserts. well, ladies street was quite a disappointment. nothing much to buy cos the things there are not usually what we would use/wear. haha...

then we went to watche the symphony of lights. nothing exciting though...the eiffel tower at night was waayy better.

just lights at the island opposite.

then it was a very late dinner at a cafe near bee opposite bee hong's apartment. the owner is a singaporean muslim. he recommended that we go to shenzhen where there's halal muslim food and good shopping.

we popped by bee hong's apartment and decided not to go shenzhen. no time, lah.

Day 2
since the weather was much better and clearer, we decided to go to the peak. we had planned to leave the hostel at 8am, but since we ll woke up late from the exhaustion of the previous day, we left at 9am instead. walked to the harbour to take the ferry to hong kong island.

at the harbour.

then we made our way to eat dim sum for brunch! it's at the islamic centre at wan chai.

love chinese food!

we ordered a lot! it was yummy and cheap...basically, i'm a sucker for chinese food.

after walking around for a bit, we took a cab from somewhere to the peak tram station.

the tram went forty-five degrees upwards. no, i didn't scream.

view from the peak was great! it was windy and chilly but not too bad.

work is too stressful that i wanna jump!

then we went to the madame tussauds wax museum and had fun taking stupid photos with the celebrities.

my favourite pose!

then home sweet home for a restful night in preparation of tomorrow's shoping marathon.

Day 3
shopping! went to citygate outlets. basically it's a shopping mall where all the factory outlet stores are...even club 21! but most of the clothes sold are older styles and many qc reject ones.

then we went to the biggest H&M in hong kong! it was in central and is 4 storeys high!

we heart H&M.

then we took a cab to kowloon to a chinese muslim retaurant which is famous for their beef dishes.

tired faces. ok, i look more pissed off then tired. haha!

their food was delicious! even people who don't stay nearby come to this restaurant regularly. apparently their speciality is veal goulash. it's like minced beef wrapped in prata-like wrapping. hehe...nice nice. and got to taste xiao long baos! very nice too!

then we had a conversation with a cab driver. at first he spoke cantonese, then nadirah was like "err...bu zhi dao, bu zhi dao!"

and then he spoke mandarin! haha...interesting. but even his mandarin was quite hard to understand cos of his thick cantonese accent. but we managed. hehe!

well, that's all about the trip. would love to go hong kong again and check out other places with sceneries like lantau island and ocean park (even though i suffer from motion sickness). and not forgetting visiting shenzhen!
