bitch fit II

With regards to earlier post, I did not receive a reply letter or an apologetic call from SingTel.

Nonethess, I got my bill yesterday and it was correct.

A few assumptions:
1) My letter got lost in the mail.
2) My letter was received but they just shoved it aside. Probably they were going to rectify the bill anyway.
3) My letter was received, they did not bother to reply and just amended my bill.

But I still want vouchers / discounts from them. Hmph.

Anyway, on a side note, I dreamt that I was using an iPhone. However, when I woke up, there was no iPhone by my bedside :(

bitch fit

"Some time in July 2009, I called up the SingTel Mobile call centre to place an order for the new iPhone 3GS after being unable to place an order through the website. I was then using a StarHub Postpaid line for my personal use. I had a corporate line under SingTel and decided to request for a transfer of telephone company because SingTel was the exclusive distributor of iPhone then. I also requested to upgrade the SingTel postpaid plan from iOne Plus to iFlexi Lite when I placed the order via the call centre. Subsequently I terminated my StarHub line.

Alas, my nightmare with SingTel services started there and then. I encountered many problems with the order; specifically with regards to getting the item delivered to my residence. Some of my friends placed an order later than I did and managed to get their item delivered on a much earlier date. I finally got the item delivered to my residence on 22 September 2009 after more than a month of waiting. For a company that touts itself as the largest telephone company in SE Asia, the time taken to deliver a simple phone to me is simply unacceptable.

When one of your staff delivered the item to my residence, there was no new SIM card included. I was rather puzzled because the SIM card I was using was not a 3G SIM card. However, I could still gain access to applications using GPRS data, hence I continued using the same SIM card.

When I received my first bill dated 8 October 2009, I was shocked to see that I was billed under iOne Plus plan, despite having changed the mobile plan to iFlexi Lite upon ordering the iPhone 3GS. Because of this, I was also being charged for GPRS data usage. The bill came up to a whopping $387.74, of which $326.34 fell under the GPRS data usage.

The following day on 10 October 2009 I called the SingTel Mobile call centre to enquire about the charges. The customer service officer on the line told me that someone from the billing department would call me on Monday.

I received the call on Monday and was told to change my SIM card to a 3G SIM card. She explained that the reason why SingTel did not capture my change in mobile plan was because they did not receive my old SIM card. She apologized for the miscommunication and advised me to go to the nearest SingTel hello! shop to get a new SIM card. She also assured me that my bill would be adjusted accordingly. Again I would like to reiterate the incompetence in the level of service provided by SingTel. If only the 3G SIM card was delivered together with the iPhone, none of this so-called miscommunication would have happened. And to compound the issue further, I have to go and get the new SIM card myself! I guess all the GEMS (Go The Extra Mile for Service) movement initiated by the government has not filtered to your company.

The following month when I received my bill dated 7 November 2009, my mobile plan was reflected correctly, but I was still being charged for the previous month’s charges. For that month I did not make any enquiry as I was hoping that the excess charges I had paid earlier would be used to offset future month’s charges.

I was greatly disappointed and frustrated that there was no reflection of the above when I received the bill dated 8 December 2009. The charges incurred in December were still deducted via GIRO from my bank account.

Once again, I contacted the SingTel Mobile call centre and spoke to an officer from the billing department. She assured me that the excess amount I had paid in October would be credited back into my bank account via GIRO. This would be reflected in the bill received on January 2010.

However, when I received the bill dated 8 January 2010, there was no reflection of any money being credited to my bank account. I also checked my bank account statement and there was no deposit from SingTel.

I am greatly disappointed by the service. Twice I was reassured that my bill dated 8 October 2009 would be adjusted and the error rectified, however, to date I have not seen any of such. I am regretful of switching service providers, from StarHub to SingTel. If given a choice, I would switch back to StarHub because from my experience, Starhub provides better service and I have not had any problems with regards to billing with StarHub.

To resolve the problem, I hope that Singtel is able rectify the billing problem and credit back the excess amount I had paid via GIRO. As such, I demand that Singtel reverse the charges for the GPRS usage incurred in my October bill with immediate effect. Also as a sign of sincerity that SingTel really treasures my continued patronage of your services, I demand a discount on my monthly subscription for the rest of my contract duration.

I look forward to your immediate reply to this letter. I sure hope I do not have to wait another 3 months to resolve this issue. Enclosed in this letter are copies of my bills from October 2009 to January 2010. You can contact me at the above address or by phone at (+65) 964XXXXX."

peh-nehn?

I went to the national family vioence symposium today. It was quite interesting. The talk focused on violence towards adults with disability and the elderly. However the highlight of my day was the state of my stomach and my head.

Haha.

After lunch, as usual, I had some difficulty staying awake. My head was throbbing. So during the tea break I decided to go buy some panadol. On the way my stomach felt sick and I quickly flew to the toilet.

Puke.

Ate the panadol and drank some water. Half and hour later felt sick and puke again.

Took cab home and shared with Yassy. I asked her whether she had a plastic bag, just in case I got sick again. She didn't have and the cab driver offered one.

When Yassy dropped off, the uncle asked me, "you peh-nehn ha?"

I was like huh?

And later he said, "peh-nehn...you got baby...? Or car sick?"

I was like NO!
I got headache lah uncle.
Orrrrhhhhhh.

Several things ran through my mind at this point.

1) if I were having morning sickness shouldn't it be happening in the morning? Haha!
2) of all things the first thing the uncle thought was that I was pregnant???
3) I look like I'm married, how come still no bf? Haha!

Ok that was funny despite having a puke-y day.

interview

my colleague got featured in the chinese newspaper on 26/11/2008! basically it's a section on features of various occupations and my colleague was being interviewed about being a social worker!

so cool...i got another colleague to translate it sentence by sentence. i thought it was quite a good article and really showed what we social workers do.
(see this)

and this reminded me of the interview my friends and i did for detik in conjunction with our very first social workers' day.

haha...omg...those days when my malay was horrid. imagine doing a tv interview in malay.
eeks.

anyway i remembered saying something like how my attachment serves as a stepping stone for my carer. and surprised myself by saying "batu loncatan". like wow...hahaha so lame.

anyway there were other lame things we had to do.
walk her walk there.
talk here talk there.
laugh here laugh there.
write her write there.

gosh.

oh well, no matter how embarrassing it was, i must admit it was quite a good and interesting experience. what goes on behind the scenes of a tv interview.

which reminds me, i don't have a recording of the show :(

of bimbos, image and makeup

during one of those "i really don't feel like working" moments, my colleagues in the upstairs office were discussing about one of our sister's wedding photo and makeup.

the conclusion was, the makeup was superb and really good!

so the bimbos drew the conclusion
don't wear too much makeup on normal days; later your wedding photo will look the same as on other days.

which i really agree...which is one of the reasons why my makeup is being reduced to foundation, blusher and lipgloss/stick.

nasim has been endlessly reminding me that when i started working, although i didn't wear full makeup, i had my eyeliner on. now, i'm reduced to no eyeliner. i also ditched my contact lenses as lately they make my eyes more dry than usual.

so she concluded now i got no image. haha! oh well, after 1 year, i realised got nobody to impress with my image, so forget about it la.

image enhancement will be reserved for weekends and for going out to have fun.

wii!

went to fiza's house to play wii! it's damn fun...quite addictive too. omg i can't imagine myself buying one. cost aside, but i'll just be addicted and obsessed by it. playing it day and night. well for one, the wii fit can help with exercise. and it'll be damn fun if there's the wii sports. woohoo!

i thought fiza's drum and guitar set was cool...and cute too! haha...can live in the fantasy of being in a rock band. and "being able to play" the guitar and drum. macam betul aje!

oh yeah, and we screamed and screeched a lot while playing the balance games, esp the foot ball one. cos you have to avoid flying football boots and panda head! fiza, invite us over again! hehe...maybe during one of the public holidays so we can spend a full day at your house :))

by my side

i have been following the 9pm channel 8 drama closely.

during the first episode, then rui en came across as the "person who helps" in the show, my first impression was, "oh dear, this is another show where they misinterpret the role of a social worker".

well, initially rui en's characted did seem like one of a social worker. especially those skewed ones we see on tv, i.e. the social worker who:
1) works 24 hours a day
2) rescues each and every client in distress
3) able to come to client's rescue at any time of the day
4) always wears a sling bag (as per DL)
5) has boring fashion sense (as per DL also...haha!)
6) speaks to doctors at the hospital's roof top garden (ya CGH actually has a roof top garden but is apparently closed?)
7) lodges homeless clients at their house
8) gives clients his/her personal number
9) actually a volunteer!

well, my guess about this show was wrong! she actually introduced herself as a volunteer/befriender and there seems to be an existence of a social worker who is a trained professional! Although the social worker is not a constant visible character in the show, that's besides the point. what i like about this show is that it differentiates social worker and volunteer :))

ok, besides the social work part, it reflects the lives of people suffering from AIDS; how it affects their family and the society's perception of them. not too sure about how accurately it affects the real world (*ehem!* systems theory).

so far in my course of work, i've come across only 1 AIDS patient in a case. looking back, i think i was a bit paranoid. i remember myself looking out for any fresh blood stains on the patient's bed, the railings on the bed and the chair beside him! too paranoid...

the nightmare patient and family

my biggest nightmare is back in the hospital. i just learnt a new term today - frequent flyer. i shall name this very patient that.

previously i have worked with frequent flyer and frequent flyer's family for X whole months. my record length of stay so far. anyway, reason why frequent flyer stayed so long was because of medical and complicated family/social issues.

basically frequent flyer eventually went somewhere safe. i was quite satisfied, considering the amount of effort i put in and dealing with frequent flyer's family is really not easy. can make me vomit blood. but well, i tried very hard to be patient.

and now that frequent flyer has been officially described as frequent flyer by me, i am pretty sure one day frequent flyer will come back to me. no matter how hard i pray frequent flyer will not come, i have to be realistic.

main concern is, i would be freakin pissed off with frequent flyer's family for what they did about frequent flyer. cos my efforts and blood-vomitting episodes all have come to waste. and i feel that it was foolish of them to do that about frequent flyer. and because of this, i'm afraid that i will vent my frustrations of frequent flyer's family.

sigh.

transference.

p.s: i'm trying to make this entry as ambiguous as possible so you can ignore if it's too difficult to understand ;)

life's a bitch, i know...

as social workers, we are trained to be non-judgmental. some of us carry this trait onto our interpersonal relationships, not just in our professional relationship. however, i feel that the recent turn of events has made me doubt the beauty of being non-judgmental.

sadly, it has made me to be more on my guard and not to trust others so easily. well, you may be thinking that i have been too naive. maybe that's true...but i prefer to think more about karma - what goes around, comes around.

unfortunately karma hasn't been working too well for me lately.

and i learnt another lesson - don't open you big mouth before really thinking through about the consequences of it. yes, of late my big mouth has been detrimental to me. yup, i was thinking of karma right before i opened my big mouth.

i guess this teaches me a valuable lesson in life.

just as the malay idom goes, "buat baik berpada-pada, but jahat jangan sekali".

excessiveness in life is bad.

though i'm disgusted and pissed with how things turn out, i still believe that the good will come to me eventually - and i will be good only to people i trust.

attention all medical staff...

attention all medical staff...code blue...outside MSW department.

and i rushed out of my cubicle to check out the drama!

(code blue is activated when someone collapses in the hospital)

and there was a man sprawled flat out at the department entrance.
and the doctors and nurses and staff from rehab rushed in to check on the patient.
the ECG machine was wheeled in.
patient was immediately put on the machine and drip was started.
doctor checked his vitals, etc.
my colleague rushed out to give another doctor patient's diagnosis (he was just discharged that afternoon).

whoa, drama man!

i thought i'll only see this kind of scene on grey's anatomy. but noo...i get to see it at the office!

drama in the office...i liike! (only when i'm part of the audience)

p.s: word has it that the man was faking it.
